Lemonade Heart Cookies

Valentine’s Day is coming very soon, which means that these cookies that I am going to show you how to make are perfect for this week! Let’s get started:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup sugar

2/3 cup Crisco

1 egg

1 and 1/2 cup of flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

Pinch of Salt

1 tbsp milk

1 tbsp lemon zest

2 lemons (one for icing one for cookies)

3 drops of pink or red food dye (optional)

Cookies:

Mix together your sugar and crisco in a mixing bowl

Fold the egg into the mixture once combined

Now add in the flour, baking soda, milk, and salt

Once mixed together well add in the zest and 1 tbsp of Lemon juice (if your batter is too runny add more flour, if it is too thick then add more lemon juice)

Last but not least add in three or four drops of food dye depending on how vibrant you want your cookies to turn out.

Before placing them in the oven cut out small heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Then place the cookies in the oven for 15-20 minutes.

Icing:

While your cookies are baking in the oven, you might want to make the icing for them.

All you need is powered sugar and your other lemon. Mix 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and keep adding tsp of lemon juice until you get the desired consistency that you want.

After your cookies cool off for a little bit spread or drizzle the icing on them. Then serve and enjoy!

Hopefully you enjoyed this post and your cookies turned out good. You don’t actually have to make these for Valentine’s Day, you could also make them for a spring picnic, and dye them yellow instead of pink and shape them into normal circular cookies. Anyways, you might remember on my last blog post when I showed you how to make a flower crown using newspaper, I said that I would make an important announcement in today’s post. So, what I was going to announce is that I am making a cook book! It won’t just be filled with recipes, but it will also have crafts and maybe some hairstyles! I have just started working on it so it probably won’t be done for a long time, hopefully by the end of  December, but keep a lookout for more announcements on that. Anyways, stay safe and have a great day!
